Madeline's Bike Ride

My baby has been learning to ride her bike without her training wheels.  Here's the proof :-)

Daddy's Birthday Gift

The girls and I made a video for Sam for his birthday.  He loved it, so we thought we'd share it with you.

In Honor of the Recent Father-Daughter Dance

Following are the words to one of my favorite new songs (thanks Tracy for sharing it with me):

you can listen to it here www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfxL0S-7yVo

Steven Curtis Chapman - Cinderella
From the album This Moment

She spins and she sways
To whatever song plays
Without a care in the world
And I’m sitting here wearing
The weight of the world on my shoulders

It’s been a long day
And there’s still work to do
She’s pulling at me saying, “Dad I need you
There’s a ball at the castle and I’ve been invited
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh please, Daddy please”

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
‘Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don’t want to miss even one song
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she’ll be gone …

She says he’s a nice guy
And I’d be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of the dress
She says, “Dad the prom is just one week away
And I need to practice my dancing
Oh please, Daddy please”

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
‘Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don’t want to miss even one song
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she’ll be gone …

Well, she came home today
With a ring on her hand
Just glowing and telling us
All they had planned
She says, “Dad the wedding’s still six months away
But I need to practice my dancing
Oh please, Daddy please”

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
‘Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don’t want to miss even one song
‘Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnight
And she’ll be gone …

Cool List

Jana posted a very cool list that you need to read.  Click here to read.
(from a blogger I "met" through an adoption forum when we were considering our adoption - what a great list!)

Father-Daughter Dance 2008

This past Friday my two precious Princesses went to our church's annual Father-Daughter Dance with their handsome Prince, Daddy.  There's an album of pictures to see how much fun they had getting their nails painted & hair fixed (by beautician, Mommy), dressing up (in their favorite accessory - tights), and dancing (more with friends than Daddy).  This is the first year they've made it longer than 30 minutes, in fact, they lasted 3 hours!  Too cute - just see for yourself!

My Silly 4-Year Old

Madeline recently visited a public restroom with her Nana (my mom).  Just as they entered their stalls, my mom’s toilet did the whole auto-flush thing that those over-zealous toilets sometimes do.  Madeline yelled out, “Wow, Nana!  That is the biggest ‘tee-tee’ I have ever heard!”

How We Spent Our Holiday Time

My sweet husband saves some vacation days each year, so we can extend our family holiday time together.  This year we decided not to travel anywhere, and we ended up having a lot of fun spending quality moments together.  Following are some highlights of our holiday time (if the photos are difficult to see, they are also in the album, so check there:

We visited Grandaddy & Grandma Liz and climbed trees and played with the dogs.

We made lots and lots of cookies - dangerous, I know, but the girls (and guys) loved it.Making Cookies 3

We shared gifts...

...and made new fashion statements.

We made our family's famous and favorite Christmas Turkey Soup - a wonderful way to 'go green' IMO :-)

During the week after Christmas, the girls played pop beads, literally for hours (a gold-mine of a find from Nana - my mom)...

...while Daddy read to them from the Chronicles of Narnia (with the promise that when we finished the book, they could watch the movie, and we did!)...

Madeline helped me construct Lincoln Log buildings (complements of Grammy), and...

we ended our vacation time with camping (in the freezing cold)

and a trip to Sea World.

Yay for Family Time!

Catching up...

With the combination of travel and our internet going down twice in the past month, I've been cornered into composing all my blog entries in my head.  I've taken some pictures along the way, but even that was cut short when my camera battery died and I lost the charger - arghh!  So here goes my attempt to "catch up."  :-)

I'll start with something cute I overheard my daughter's saying on the way driving over to our best friends' house:
M (4) - "It's a long way to KK's house."
Mommy - "It's not too far now."
L (3) - "Look Madeline! It's not too far now!"
M (4) - "You're right! KK lives in THIS neighborhood."
L (3) - "Yeah!"
M (4) - "And I see some people are going to be moving in to other houses."
L (3) - "Hey, Madeline, do you like KK?"
M (4) - "Oh yes, Lilly, I love her very much!"

A 4-Year Old's Rendition of "Frosty the Snowman"

Here are the word's to Madeline's version of Frosty the Snowman (so when you see the video, you'll know what she's saying:
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly happy snow
With a po-ko pike and a button nose and
Two eyes made out of cold
Frosty the Snowman had to hurry on his way,
but He waved goodbye saying, "Don't cry!"
I'll be back on Christmas day.

Made me giggle!

William's 1st Birthday

Will’s Birthday came and went as fast as his birth…I can hardly believe my baby is a year old and walking all over the place.  It sounds cliché, but really, has it been a whole year???

Embarrassingly, we nearly overlooked it – well, not completely.  We had a family birthday party planned for him over the weekend, so when his actual birthday popped up mid-week, let’s just say it wasn’t our FIRST thought.  I spent the first part of the morning feeling like bad mommy and the second part making spectacular evening birthday plans.  Maybe those of you with three plus young ones will understand…please tell me I’m not the only one J.

Once we finally got rolling with the celebration, we had a lot of fun.  We ate Will’s favorite dinner which includes anything with sweet potatoes.  Then, we went out to get his first haircut…despite what the pictures may convey,  he really was happy the entire time…until he saw me with the camera, that is.   Next we went to a wonderful local coffee house that serves local ice cream and has a train caboose the kids can play in…it’s all in the pictures.  Will would only eat his ice cream if he could do it himself – really cute!  After that, we headed back home for our annual pumpkin carving fun (since his birthday is the day before Halloween).

The other pictures are from our weekend family celebration in Central Texas both at some of our favorite hang-outs and at a favorite German restaurant in the middle of nowhere.  Thanks everyone for meeting us and making it fun!

Kiddos

Well, what have my three cuties been up to lately?

Madeline's Quote:
During dinner, Daddy often reminds the children that we try new foods in order to "train your palate." In addition, Madeline has been learning at school how our brain talks to the rest of our body.  Here is what she said as I was trying to get her to taste her soup and veggies.
Madeline: "My brain tells me I like this the best..."
Mommy: "He does?"
Madeline: "Yep.  He says, 'Keep eating your oranges.'"

Lilly's Quote:
"Mommy, you are beautiful!"
Melt my heart...

Will's Latest:
Steps, steps, and more steps...he's trying to become a toddler, but prefers the speed-crawl.  His little toddly walk is an adorable blend of a frankenstein impersonation and the cabbage patch dance.  I'll post video soon.
